About

Thirteen years, one discipline

Dorian Menard is a Perth-based senior SEO consultant specialising in technical, local, multi-location and AI search visibility. Founder of Search Scope (2021), with an MBA in international business earned across France and Japan. Fluent in English and French, working with clients across Australia, the US and Europe.

Dorian Menard

I switched from offline to online marketing in 2013, just after Google’s Penguin update finished wrecking the sites that got there on shortcuts. I spent the next seven years learning the trade properly, working across several SEO agencies in Perth rather than pretending I already knew the job.

From 2017 I ran SEO consulting of my own for local and national businesses in France and Australia, alongside affiliate sites I built and ran on the side, several of which held their own in genuinely competitive niches. In 2021 I brought all of it under Search Scope: client work and a portfolio of rank and rent lead generation sites I still run today.

Whether the client is a Perth tradie, a multi location operator with fifteen branches, or a national brand, the method is the same. Quality over quantity. Success measured by new customers and revenue. Remove the fragility so results do not collapse with the next algorithm change.

I am also the person you get on the call. No account manager layer, no junior doing the audit while a strategist reads it back to you. That is a deliberate limit on how many clients I take. Some of that judgement gets quoted and cited by other publications, if you want a second opinion on it.

The path
  1. 2013

Offline to online, right after Penguin

Switched into digital marketing just as the first wave of SEO spam was getting wiped out by Google’s Penguin update. Good timing more than good planning.

  2. 2013 to 2020

Learned the job at Perth agencies

Seven years working across several SEO agencies in Perth, building the technical and local SEO grounding everything since has been built on.

  3. 2017 to 2021

Went independent, and built affiliate sites

In parallel with agency work, started consulting directly for local and national businesses in France and Australia, alongside affiliate sites of my own in commission driven niches.

  4. 2021

    Search Scope

Brought client consulting and a portfolio of rank and rent lead generation sites under one practice, based in Victoria Park, Perth.

  5. 2025

    The reinstatement caseload

234 Google Business Profile suspension cases since early 2025, 230 reinstated. Alongside it, the AI search work: getting clients cited inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok.

  6. Now

200 plus clients in, still doing the work

Running the practice from Victoria Park, Perth, with clients across Australia, the US and Europe.

How I work

Six rules that decide who I take on and how the engagement runs.

  • Founder led, not account managed

The person on the call is the person doing the work.

  • No lock in contracts

Month to month, 30 days notice. The results keep you, not the paperwork.

  • Real data, no vanity metrics

Reports cover rankings, calls, form submissions and revenue impact.

  • Honest about timelines

Including telling a prospect that SEO is not the right move for them yet.

  • Specialist focus

SEO and AI search only. No social, no web design, no brand strategy.

  • I will walk away

Bad fit engagements waste your money and my time. I say no.

Off the clock

Perth is home base. A lot of the year is not.

I split time between Perth and travel through Asia and Europe, which is part of why the practice runs the way it does: documented, systemised, and not dependent on me being in one room. French and English, an MBA earned across France and Japan, and clients in three time zones.

Outside work it is martial arts, video editing, music, and taking apart whatever new technology is worth taking apart. The martial arts habit is probably the most relevant one here. You train the fundamentals until they are boring, then they hold up under pressure.

  • Travel
  • Video editing
  • Music
  • Technology
  • Entrepreneurship

Thirty minutes is usually enough to know if I can help.
